xvii In order that critical editions of rare and valuable texts on Jyotiṣa be brought out, the Tirupati Vidyapeetha appointed Dr. Arka Somayaji as Reader in Hindu Astronomy. Accordingly the Vidyapeetha has undertaken the publication of his English annotation of the Siddhāntaśiromaṇi.
