on the first page are as under:—'तथापि शब्दकमादार्थक्रमो बलीयानिति न्यायाद्रहस्य इति प्रवस पश्चात्संबन्धे तूष्णींभावमेव प्राप्नोतीति प्रकृतविचारस्य फलप्रकरणासंगतत्वमापततीति प्रकारान्तरेण सूत्रार्थ उच्यते ॥' Here ends the first page. The reader will find that all this is exactly as we find in the present manuscripts, and we cannot but come to the conclusion that the whole of the first page containing the कारिकास and the first interpretation of the two सूत्रs is subsequently added. This leads us to the further question as to whose these कारिकास are? Whether they were composed by श्रीवल्लभाचार्य, and श्रीविट्ठलेश्वर having found them subsequently, incorporated them in his own work, or whether they are the com- position of श्रीविट्ठलेश्वर himself? In सुबोधिनी on ३. २५. ३३. we find as under:—पञ्चाग्निविद्यायां ज्ञानोपयिकदेहादिनिरूपिता, तस्मिन् देहे ज्ञाने जाते मुक्तिर्भवतीति तस्य च ब्रह्मविदो 'जीवतो म्रियमाणस्य गच्छतः सङ्गतस्य
