354 बृहत्संहितायाम् [Adh. XLVI. Sl. 26-30 राष्ट्रविभेदस्त्वृतौ बालवधोऽतीव कुसुमिते बाले । वृक्षात् क्षीरस्रावे सर्वद्रव्यक्षयो भवति ॥२६॥ Sloka 26.—If trees yield flowers (and fruits) out of season, the country will be thrown into confusion (dis- integration); if a tender plant blossoms very luxuriantly, children will die; and if milk flows from trees, all sub- stances will be destroyed. तथा च गर्गः । स्वराष्ट्रभेदं कुरुते फलपुष्पमनातर्वम् । बालानां मरणं कुर्याद्बालानां फलपुष्पजम् ॥ मद्ये वाहननाशः सङ्ग्रामः शोणिते मधुनि रोगः । स्नेहे दुर्भिक्षभयं महद्भयं निस्रुते सलिले ॥२७॥ Sloka 27.—If wine flows from trees, vehicles will be destroyed; if blood, there will be war; if honey, disease; if oil, threat of famine; and if water, there will be great misery. शुष्कविरोहे वीर्यान्नसङ्क्षयः शोषणे च विरुजानाम् । पतितानामुत्थाने स्वयं भयं दैवजनितं च ॥२८॥ Sloka 28.—If withered trees sprout up again and healthy ones wither away, there will be the decay of strength (powerful men) and food, and if fallen trees stand erect by themselves, there is fear of divine visi- tations. पूजितवृक्षे ह्यनृतौ कुसुमफलं नृपवधाय निर्दिष्टम् । धूमस्तस्मिन् ज्वालाऽथवा भवेन्नृपवधायैव ॥२९॥ Sloka 29.—If a worshippable tree should bear flowers and fruits out of season, or if there be smoke or flame on it, the destruction of the King is indicated. सर्पत्सु तरुषु जल्पत्सु वापि जनसङ्क्षयो विनिर्दिष्टः वृक्षाणां वैकृत्ये दशभिर्मासैः फलविपाकः ॥३०॥
