Dear Sir, I am one of the profound mourners for the long-lost mother of Ayurvedic Lore. I had long lost all hopes of her revival. I went on mourning every day. It was at such a juncture, when I interested in such researches, was about to relinquish every idea of success, that your ‘Ayur- vedic Grantha Mala conducted by your profound erudition happened to pass before my watery eyes. Immediately I

१३ found that she was already revived in the learned North and was coming towards me with redoubled brilliance and beauty like the gold subjected to many refinements in fire. It afforded me so much pleasure and satisfaction as would be felt by a small orphan at finding his long dead mother reviv- ed to life and standing before it. As a representative of the rest of the mourners who also enjoyed the opportunity of persuing your journal and thus satisfying themselves, I render my heart-felt thanks for the interest that you have taken in its resusciation I perused the 9 issues of your worthy journal and was curious enough to go through the August Issue. I was very much feeling the unexpected and un- lucky delay of great length. whereas I found the August journal came to my hands on the 19th instant. I deeply felt apology for your delay. Deep was my sorrow to see the merciless God afflicting such a divine moon like you, in your divine errand. Deep is my wish that God no more might thus interrupt you in the discharge of your bene- volent and national duty. Deep is my anxiety and wish for your longlife, for your interrupted health and for the prosperity of your journal. It would not be too much to add that the worthy journal of yours would stimulate the slug- gish spirit of all our Southern Sanskrit Scholars whose com- bined efforts should contribute their quota to the resuscia- tion of Ayurvedic lore and to the national advancement. यच्च शल्यशालाक्याद्यष्टाङ्गभूतं वेदसमकालं किलायुर्वेदशास्त्रं, तच्छरी- रायुर्रिरामयत्वलाभाद्धर्मादिचतुर्वर्गसाधनत्वं तस्येति धर्मादिचतुर्वर्गलिप्सूनां प्राणिनां रागाद्याध्यात्मिकैरुन्मादाद्याधिदैविकैः कुष्ठाद्याधिभौतिकैश्चानेकविधरोग- भुजङ्गैः संदष्टानां समूलरोगनिवृत्तये परमकारुणिकैरात्रेयकश्यपशाण्डिल्यभरद्वा- जादिमहर्षिभित्रिकालज्ञानशालिभिर्मुनिभिः स्वास्थ्यानुवृत्तिपुरःसरं दीर्घायुर्लभा- यानेकविधा आरोग्योपजीवनभूता विरचिताः संहिताः । ताः कदाचिदत्युत्तमोन्न- तिपदारूढाश्वासन् । याः संहिताः सम्यगधीत्य पुरातनैरातिदुरुहायुर्वेदमर्मज्ञैर्वि- शुद्धबुद्धिभिश्चिकित्सकवरैरेव रसायनैरन्यैश्च दिव्यौषधितल्लजैश्चयवनादीनां जरा- राजयक्ष्मादिरोगार्तानामारोग्यं विधायातिजराभिभूतानां नूनं नूतनं वयःस्थापि- तमिति । तासु समुपलभ्यमानास्वप्यनेकासु संहितासु हन्त बह्व्यः संहिताः कुत्रचिद्विद्यमाना अपि इदानीं दृष्टमपि नोपलभ्यन्ते । परं संतुष्यति चेतः खलु आयुर्वेदीयग्रन्थमालायां संप्रथिता रसहृदयादिग्रन्थाः, ये हि पुरा लुप्तप्राया अत एव सुदुर्लभाश्च प्रकाश्यन्ते । अन्येषां च ग्रन्थानां तादृशानां संप्रकाशने ह्यस्मत्सुहृद्वैरायुर्वेदोद्धारकैराचार्ययादवजीमहोदयैर्महानायासः समुत्तष्ठितः । स खलु प्रभूतमभिनन्दनीयो धन्यवादाईश्चार्यमहाशयः । अधुना परिम्लायमाना- प्यायुर्विद्यावली कादम्बिन्या इवास्याः प्रादुर्भावेन भूयः पल्लविता पुष्पशालिनी फलसंकुला च स्यादिति वरीवृत्यतेऽस्माकमवितथो मनोरथः । तथाहि— आप्लावयत्वस्मिन्नवसरे पण्डितराजवचोवीचिरस्मद्धृदयप्रदेशम् ।— “आरामाधिपतिर्विवेकविकलो नूनं रसा नीरसा वात्याभिः परुषीकृता दशदिशश्चण्डात्तपो दुःसहः । एवं धन्वनि चम्पकस्य सकले संहारहेतावपि त्वं सिञ्चन्नमृतेन तोयद कुतोऽप्याविष्कृतो वेधसा ॥” सर्वेषामेव भारतवर्षीयायुर्वेदारविन्दमलिन्दानामतीव सांप्रतं संप्रति स्वकी- याधिहोमजन्योत्साहधूमस्तोमैरस्याः कादम्बिन्याः संवर्धनमिति साग्रहमभ्यर्थ- यते, अपि चायुर्वेदीयग्रन्थमाला चिरायुष्मती तत्प्रकाशकश्च चिरायुर्भूयादित्या- शास्ते च पौषशुक्लद्वादश्यां $\left.{l}

१५ ( राजमार्तण्डादुद्धर्तोशः ) वातज्वरे शुण्ठ्यादिः क्वाथः। वातज्वरोपशमनाय पिबेत्सुधी- दुःस्पर्शनागरघनकथितं कषायम् पित्तज्वरे नलदादिकषायः । पित्तोद्भवे नलदपर्पटकाब्दशुण्ठी- श्रीखण्डनैः कथितमेतदुशन्ति वैद्याः ॥ १९९ ॥ कफज्वरे शुण्ठ्यादिकषायः । शुण्ठीग्रवासकट्फलान्नकृतः कषायः श्लेष्मोद्भवं शमयति ज्वरमाशु पीतः। सर्वज्वरे शुण्ठ्यादिकषायः । सर्वज्वरप्रशमनार्थमुदाहरन्ति विश्वौषधेन सह पर्पटकं मुनीन्द्राः ॥ २०० ॥ ( ज्वराधिकारः २० ) ( रससारादुद्धर्तोशः ) पुरा शुद्धो रसेन्द्रश्च संस्कारैश्चैव संस्कृतः । चारयेज्जारयेच्चं च महासिद्धिप्रदो भवेत् ॥ १ ॥ लोहखल्वे चतुष्पादे रसं तत्र विनिक्षिपेत् । क्षाराम्लवेतसं काङ्क्षी विडं द्वात्रिंशदंशकम् ॥ २ ॥ चतुःषष्ठ्यंशकं व्योम ग्रासं दत्त्वा रसस्य तु । टङ्कणं हयलाला च लशुनार्द्रकचित्रकम् ॥ ३ ॥ मधुनिम्बरसं दत्त्वा यामयुग्मं विमर्दयेत् । सोष्णखल्वे चरेद्ग्रासं गर्मद्रुतिमवाप्नुयात् ॥ ४ ॥ नष्टपिष्टं परिज्ञाय यत्नेन क्षालयेद्रसम् । सोमांनलस्य यन्त्रस्य नाभिमध्ये रसं क्षिपेत् ॥ ५ ॥ दत्त्वाऽष्टांशं विडं नाभिं किञ्चिदम्लेन पूरयेत् । क्षाराम्लं त्र्यूषणं मूत्रं राजिकाशिग्रुचित्रकम् ॥ ६ ॥ ( पटलः १२ ) १ 'चारयेन्मारयेच्चक्रे' ग. । २ 'नालिमघ्ये' ग. ।
