20 KĀNHADADE PRABANDHA Jñāna Bhaṇḍāra, Pāṭan, came from the late Mohanlal Dalichand Desāi's collection acquired by Godiji's Upāśraya, Bombay. The descrip- tion given below, therefore, applies equally to both G and H. Each folio of the MS G(H) measures 10" by 4.4". It has side-margins about .9" wide and margins above and below about .4" to .5". Two double lines in black ink with the intermediate space painted in saffron ink mark off the margins. There are on an average 13 lines per page. The number of letters per line varies from 37 to 48, the average being 41. In the bottom of the right-hand margins of the verso sides are written the verse-numbers within an ornamental double square painted in saffron ink. In the left-hand margin at the top is written the title of the poem,¹ within an ornamental rectangle. Below it in a small square painted in saffron ink the number of the page is written. Some of the pages have their left and right edges painted with red ink. The manuscript has no svastika. Every quarter of a verse is marked with a vertical stroke in saffron ink. At the end of the verse and again after the verse-number a vertical stroke is marked. However, from the end of Khaṇḍa II up to the end of the MS (at III 159) these verticals are left out, though space for them has been kept blank. It appears that the copyist postponed the drawing of the verticals and then forgot about it (from f. 18 verso to the end of the MS). The colophon of each Khaṇḍa is rubricated, and also the first verse of the Khaṇḍa. Names of places like जाल्हहर, भीनमाल, and the names of metres are also rubricated. If a ा (ā-sign) or ि (i-sign) is written through mistake, it is simply crossed out by two upward strokes. Sometimes the letter to be deleted is painted out with red ink. The addition of an inadvertently omitted letter is made just above its proper place. Sometimes (as on f. 5 verso l. 8 and f. 8 verso l. 5) a number of words are deleted by drawing a line through them and marking a cross before and after the deleted portion. The deleting line is usually drawn in black ink but once it is in red ink (f. 11 recto,
