204 KĀVYAPRAKĀŚA अस्त्येवैतत् किमु कृतवता रेणुकाकण्ठबाधां बद्धस्पर्धस्तव परशुना लज्जते चन्द्रहासः ॥२०१॥ अत्र विजेय इति कृत्यप्रत्ययः क्तप्रत्ययार्थवाचकः ॥ अतिपेलवमतिपरिमितवर्णं लघुतरमुदाहरति शठः । परमार्थतः स हृदयं वहति पुनः कालकूटघटितमिव ॥२०२॥ अत्र पेलवशब्दः ॥ यः पूयते सुरसरिन्मुखतीर्थसार्थ- स्नानेन शास्त्रपरिशीलनकीलनेन । सौजन्यमान्यजनिनिरूजितमूर्जितानां सोयं दृशोः पतति कस्यचिदेव पुंसः ॥२०३॥ forced back by your weapons, is your abode, and the earth is for you an object to be given away ; though all this is so, yet my sword Chandrahāsa is ashamed at being pitted against your axe which cut off Reṇukā’s head !’ The verbal potential affix (‘yat ’) in ‘vijeya ’ has been used in the sense of the past participle affix ‘kta ’, which sense it can never have. [What is meant is that Kartikeya has been subdued by you, while the word used is ‘vijeya’ which means ‘subduable’.] (5) [The ‘ Indecorous ’]— (a) ‘ Atipelava........ghaṭitamiva ’ ‘ A rogue always speaks very little, and that softly and gently; in reality ‘however’ he has his heart full of poison.’ Here the term ‘ pelava ’ is ‘ indecorous ’ (being the name in the Lāṭa language of a secret part of the human body).
