Maharana Sanga. pied the vacant seat¹ on the royal elephant. A chattra (canopy) was held over him and the chanwar was waved over his head. For a little while the Rajputs continued fighting; but the rumour soon spread like wildfire, that the Maharana had been wounded and removed from the field.
