This contraction of the meaning of the term Swadharma, this restrictive appli- cation of it accorded with the facts of life in the country, where the rights of the individuals comprising the nation became merged, not in the right of the State as with the military nations of the European conti- nent, but into the will of the person occupy- ing the throne for the time being.
