Lakshmaṇa—Here, on this way leading to the [mountain] Chitrakūṭa, which was shown us by [the sage] Bharadvāja—[here] upon this bank of the [river] Kālindī [Jumna]—is the banian-tree named Śyāma. Sītā—Does my noble Lord remember this region here? Rāma—How can I, darling, forget it! Dost thou likewise remember [the river] Godāvarī with its refreshing banks? And dost thou also remember our strolls in its neighbourhood? 26 Here likewise— While those delicious nothings (kimapi) softly, gently—cheek meeting cheek in [close] contact—we kept talking at random; while a fast embrace kept of us both a hand each engaged— ¹ The habitable section of the forest of ² Literally, ‘streaming’ or ‘full of streams’.
