ii. 28⁴—] Bhavabhūti — Uttara-Rāma-Charita [40 Rāma—As the exalted [Agastya] commands. Śambūka—Let Your Majesty then turn the Pushpaka this way.¹ Rāma—O Pañchavaṭī [of] revered [memory]! Being constrained by [this call from] those to whom deference is due (guru), for a while let this transgression of Rāma be forgiven [him]. Śambūka—Behold, Sire, behold!— [These clumps here—] when in the tiny-nests (kuṭīra) within their bushes the flocks (ghaṭā) of owls do hoot—they constrain the troops of rooks² to silence: these vast stretches (āḍambara) of the melodious (guñjat) bamboo-clumps (stambha) [growing on] this mountain called Krauñchāvata; [this mountain] wherein [also] are to be seen—frightened by the cries of the hovering (prachalat) peacocks—these snakes² climbing in fear around the trunks of ancient sandal trees. 29 Furthermore,— These here, with their caverns rumbling and roaring with the torrents (vāri) of the Godāvarī³—the clouds overhanging their blue and towering peaks—[these] are the lofty Southern ranges. [Here likewise—] with mutual clashings overwhelmed and surging with the tumult of their noisily dashing billows—here are the confluences of these holy and fathomless streams. 30 Exeunt both.
