one should observe proper rules relating to the utterance of notes and their Alaṃkāras.

Alaṃkāras and Pauses that have been prescribed in case of Sanskritic Recitation should all be observed in un-Sanskritic (Prakritic) Recitation of women as well.

Thus in the representation of the ten kinds of dramatic works (rūpa) producers should prepare Recitation subject to an observance of proper notes, Kalā, time (tāla) and tempo (laya).

Rules of intonation have been described [by me] in proper sequence. I shall describe hereafter the ten kinds of dramatic work.
Here ends Chapter XIX of Bharata’s Nāṭyaśāstra which treats of the Display of Intonation in Connexion with the Verbal Representation.
