II.4 II. VĀSIṢṬHA-SIDDHĀNTA 27 170 is left over. Deducting 119 for Tulā, 51 is left over, in Vṛścika, i.e. 51 117 of Vṛścika is gone, i.e. 30 × 51/117 degrees = 13° 5'. Therefore the true Sun = 7ʳ 13° 5'. (b) For 0 day, 0 + 6 = 6, quarter-days. 30° × 6/125 = 1° 26' gone in Meṣa. Therefore the true Sun = 0ʳ 1° 26'. The quotient are called gatis and the remainder are called padas. 3. Divide the ghanas out by 16 and take remainder alone.
