discomfited, with his power crippled (विहतप्रतापं ). निर्दिष्टमाक्रन्दमन्दं V. l.—here आक्रन्द means a battle; see com. दासेराः—Servants दास्या अपत्यं दासेय. by affixing एय ( ढक् ) which is added to words of two syllables ending in a fem. affix. (द्वाचः Pâṇ IV. 1. 121 द्वाचः स्त्रीप्रत्ययान्तादपत्ये ढक् Sid. Kau.); क्षुद्राभ्यो वा । Pâṇ IV. 1. 131; when the female is of a low character ढ्रञ् ( एरक् ) is optionally affixed; so दासेराः and दासेयाः क्षुद्राः अङ्गहीनाः शीलहीनाश्च ताभ्यो वा ढ्रक् । Sid. Kau. दासेर thus etymologically means a person of a low origin; and then a servant; and it is in this sense that the word is used here. See A.K. quoted in the com.
