  1. Sâyaṇâcârya's Mâdhavîya Vedârthaprakâça: when quoted in the commentaries on the Kâtyâyanasûtra — and this happens very rarely —, this commentary is quoted by इति माधवः. The copies thereof, extant in the E. I. H. and in the Wilson-Collection of the Bodleian library, are very modern, in- correct and defective: and as all of them, with the only exception of E. I. H. 613, partake of the same blunders and interruptions, they have most likely been copied from the same manuscript: they contain the explanation of only eight books, viz: kâṇḍa I as far as the end of the third brâhmaṇa in the seventh adhyâ- ya. E. I. H. 657 (A.) foll. 67. nr. 1509 (B.) foll. 123. Bodl. Wils. 2 (C.) foll.
  2. kâṇḍa II E. I. H. 657. foll. 64. — kâṇḍa III ibid. (A.) foll. 69. Bodl. W. 3 (B.) foll. 129. — kâṇḍa V E. I. H. 657 (A.) foll. 66. Bodl. W. 3 (B.) foll.
  3. kâṇḍa VII E. I. H. 149 (A.) foll. 66. Bodl. W. 4 (B.) foll. 65. — kâṇḍa IX in the same numbers A. foll. 44. B. foll. 58. — kâṇḍa X E. I. H. 149 (A.). most defective fragments. foll. 39. nr. 613 (B.). S. 1610. foll. 185. — kâṇḍa XI E. I. H. 1071 (A.) foll. 67. Bodl. W. 4 (B.). foll. 104. —
  4. Âcârya-Harisvâminaḥ kṛitau Çatapathabhâshyam: quoted throughout the commentaries on Kâtyâyana by: इति हरिस्वामिनः. The copies of this com- mentary are even more defective and incorrect then those of the Mâdhavîyabhâ- shya: they are bound together with these and written by the same scribes (): they contain the explanation of only three kâṇḍas, viz: of kâṇḍa II. Bodl. W. () There are four scribes of the three copies 149. 657. 1071 of the E. I. H. kâṇḍa I and k. II as far as fol. 16 have been written by the one, kâṇḍa II from fol. 17 and the kâṇḍas III. VII. IX. XI by another, the kâṇḍas V. VIII. X. XIII as far as fol. 19 by a third, and kâṇḍa XIII foll. 20-24. by a fourth. — Three scribes are to be discerned in the three copies 2-4 of the Bodl. Wils. Coll. The kâṇḍas I. VII. IX have been copied by the one, the kâṇḍas II. V by another, the kâṇḍas III. XI by a third. —
