अध्याय - ५ तद्भावाव्ययं नित्यम् ॥३१॥ [ तद्भावाव्ययं ] तद्भाव से जो अव्यय है – नाश नहीं होता सो [ नित्यम् ] नित्य है। Permanence is indestructibility of the essential nature (quality) of the substance¹. अर्पितानर्पितसिद्धेः ॥३२॥ [ अर्पितानर्पितसिद्धेः ] प्रधानता और गौणता से पदार्थों की सिद्धि होती है। (The contradictory characteristics are established) from different points of view. स्निग्धरूक्षत्वाद्वन्धः ॥३३॥ [ स्निग्धरूक्षत्वात् ] चिकने और रूखे के कारण [ बन्धः ] दो, तीन इत्यादि परमाणुओं का बन्ध होता है। Combination of atoms takes place by virtue of greasy (sticky) and dry (rough) properties associated with them. ¹ Permanence is the existence of the past nature in the present. 76
