Preface to Vol. i., p. vii. 3. Be (Be 115) cp. ib. p. vii, viii. 4. U, being a nearly complete collection of the Baudh.-sūtras, neatly written on paper in Nāgarī by the same hand. From Ujjain. The avāntaradīkṣā is not found in this collection. It contains on 158 leaves (numbered continuously) the contents of Vol. i. ; the pravargya comes after the agniṣṭoma ; it closes with kh. 17. Then come the agnicayana, vājapeya, etc. No praśna numbers are given here and in the following parts, which are all numbered separately; its colophon runs : śake 1762 bhādrapada kṛṣṇa 2 ravivāsare taddine āṭhavele ity upanāmakagaṇeśabhaṭṭātmajarāma- candreṇa likhitam. Through the kind mediation of Professor Bhandarkar I was allowed the use of this MS. MSS. containing single parts :— 5. H cp. Preface to Vol. i., p. viii. : cayana, vājapeya, ati- rātra, aptoryāma, ekādaśinī, kāṭhaka, and sautrāmaṇī. 6. F cp. Preface to Vol. i., p. ix. (vājapeya). 7. D, being a collection of various parts of the sūtra found at Dhar, the loan of which was procured to me also by Professor Bhandarkar. Paper, Nāgarī writing, different handwriting. It contains the iṣṭikalpa in a rather good tradition, although badly written; the dvādaśāhapraśna, atirātra, uttarā tatiḥ, very badly written and in the same hopelessly corrupt tradition as the other MSS. 8. Tr, being a copy in Grantha writing on paper from an origin- al in Trichinopoly, pretending to be a complete śrautasūtra (!). It contains : the whole of the text already published in Vol. i. ; the pravargya, together with its prāyaścitta and the avāntaradīkṣā, precedes the agniṣṭoma. After the agniṣṭoma come : 1. cayana (foll. 225-276); 2. sautrāmaṇī (foll. 277-282); 3. vājapeya (foll. 282-297); 4. atirātra (foll. 297-305); 5. aptoryāma (foll. 305-306); 6. the three prāyaścitta praśnas (foll. 306-343). The praśna numbering of this copy is utterly worthless. 9. MS, being the sūtra passages of the cayana as found in the mahāgnisarvasva, in Grantha writting on palmleaves, belong- ing to the India Office (cp. Burnell, a catalogue of Sanskrit MSS., Part i., p 27); MSc., the reading presented by the Mahāgnisar- vasva commentary itself.
