Sl. 21-24.] अष्टाशीतितमोऽध्यायः 685 किलिकिलिकिलि तित्तिरिस्वनः शान्तः शस्तफलोऽन्यथापरः । शशको निशि वामपार्श्वगो वाशञ्छस्तफलो निगद्यते ॥२१॥ Sloka 21.—The " Kilikilkili ' sound of the Tittiri is ‘ tranquil ’ and of auspicious results ; otherwise, it is harmful. A hare crying and running on the left side of a person at night is said to be of beneficial result. किलिकिलिविरुतं कपेः प्रदीप्तं न शुभफलप्रदमुद्दिशन्ति यातुः । शुभमपि कथयन्ति चुग्लुशब्दं कपिसदृशं च कुलालकुक्कुटस्य ॥ Sloka 22.—The ‘ Kilikili ’ sound of a monkey is said to be ‘ Burning ’ and does not produce good results to a traveller ; but the चुग्लु (chuglu) sound is favourable. The cry of a Kulalakukkuta (potters' cock) is similar in effect to that of the monkey. पूर्णाननः कृमिपतङ्गपिपीलिकाद्यै- श्चाषः प्रदक्षिणमुपैति नरस्य यस्य । खे स्वस्तिकं यदि करोत्यथ वा यियासो- स्तस्यार्थलाभमचिरात्सुमहत्करोति ॥२३॥ Sloka 23.—If a blue jay with its mouth filled with worms, moths, ants or something like that, flies from left to right of a person or in the fashion of a Swasthika figure in the sky, it bestows before long very great pros- perity on him who is starting on a journey. चाषस्य काकेन विरुध्यतश्चेत्पराजयो दक्षिणभागगस्य । वधः प्रयातस्य तदा नरस्य विपर्यये तस्य जयः प्रदिष्टः ॥२४॥ Sloka 24.—When a blue jay fights with a crow and is defeated by the latter, the traveller to whose right the jay flies will suffer death ; otherwise (when it is victorious and flies to the left), he will be victorious.
