and cognizant. Are the individual spirit souls all alike or are they not? Pūrvapakṣa (the opponent speaks): The individual spirit souls are not different. They are all exactly alike. Siddhānta (conclusion): In the following words the author of the sūtras gives His conclusion. Sūtra 49 adṛṣṭāniyamāt adṛṣṭa—of fate; aniyamāt—because of difference. Because of different fates.
