16 KĀNHAḌADE PRABANDHA In making a correction, the wrong letter is painted out white, and the correct letter is written thereon.¹ On folio 9 verso line 14 i (i-vowel) written in place of ī (ī vowel) through mistake is written over with red ink. Marginalia are few indeed. On folio 7 recto and folio 15 recto l. 11, where a letter is left out in the text, the addition is made in the left-hand side margin, with a kākapada in the line indicating the proper place where the letter is to be inserted. There is a marginal note in the right-hand margin of f. 25 verso, where the copyist has made a note that “as f. 27 of the original is missing it could not be copied.” The numbering of verses is quite regular in Khaṇḍas I, II, III. But in Khaṇḍa IV, after vs 307, which is numbered as 80 (= vs 280) in the ms, the next verse is numbered as 300, while the last verse is numbered as 45 (= vs 345). Neither the verse-numbers nor the colophons are rubricated; instead, after every quarter of the verse, a vertical stroke in red ink is made, and at the end of every verse two strokes in red ink, one before the verse-number and one after it, are made. The end of a Khaṇḍa is marked with a colophon followed by the number of the Khaṇḍa in figures and two or more vertical strokes in black and red. The colophons are as follows :- इति कान्हडदे चतुर्बंधंड प्रथमखंड समाप्तंः । इति कान्हडदे चतुर्बंधंड द्वितियखंड समातं ॥ २ ॥ इति कान्हडदे तृतियखंड संपूर्णं ॥ ३ ॥ इति कान्हडे प्रबंध चतुर्थखंड समाप्तं ॥ The final colophon reads :— हीं² सं. १९ । ३० माहा शुद २ वार भोमे । ऋषभप्रसादात् गां । डीसानगरे । सं । पं । कल्याण- विजयजी तत । शीष्य मुं । मोतिचंद । मये पं । दयाविजयजी चोमासे कृत्वा । ५ मी वसंत । As the ms is a recent one it is quite well-preserved. The copyist is a Jaina scribe named Motichand, who copied the poem at Deesa, North Gujarat, in v. s. 1930, Māgh Śukla 2nd, Tuesday. His handwriting is clear and bold, as a professional scribe's would be. He appears to have deciphered the original fairly correctly and copied it ¹ Cf. f. 8 recto l. 14 ; f. 9 recto l. 2, f 12 recto l. 15. ² ॐ which marks the beginning of Khaṇḍa IV is written in red ink. Similarly ॥ in the colophon on Khaṇḍa IV is written in red ink.
