18 KĀNHAḌADE PRABANDHA Folios 4-9 have an average of 40 letters per line; while folios 21-24 have about 46 letters per line. In the extant folios there are hardly any corrections or addi- tions, marginal or otherwise. The numbering of verses is regular up to the Bhaḍaūlī of Khaṇḍa I; after which the numbering starts again with 1 (verse 192 being numbered as vs 1 and so on). The numbering of verses is again regular fram Khaṇḍa III up to the verse 61 in Khaṇḍa IV. The verse-numbers, the names of the metres and the svastika on folios 22, 23 are rubricated. On folios 23, 24 the colophon is writ- ten in red or rather saffron-coloured ink, so also the verse-numbers and names of metres. There is only one colophon—that at the end of Khaṇḍa III which reads ॥ छ ॥ इति श्री सोनिगिराबंसै श्रीकृष्णचरित्रे तृतीयखंड ॥ धी ॥ The script is Brahmanical Devanāgarī of the Rājasthānī type, without paḍimātrā, and might belong to circa 17th century. The copyist might have been a Brahmanical scribe of Mārwāḍ. The manuscript has suffered very much from lack of proper pre- servation. Its edges have crumbled away and insects have bored holes in the sides. The manuscript is quite old and accurate, and has been very helpful in the restoration of the text Ms F is one of the two fragmentary mss that were sent to me by Muni Śrī PUṆYAVIJAYAJI from his personal collection at Pāṭan. It has 8 folios in all, of which folio 4 is missing.¹ The folios measure 10.4" by 4 4". There are margins on two sides about .5" to .6" wide, and a small margin of .4" to .5" above and below. Triple lines in red mark off the margins. Some of the side-margins are eaten up by insects. Page numbers are noted on the verso side, right-hand margin, bottom The title of the poem is not written anywhere. The manuscript commences on folio 1 verso and ends on folio 8 verso There are 12 lines per page. Each line has 41 letters on an average. ¹ MS F extends from I 1-I 61, and I 87-I 181
