Here the intended meaning of the word ‘śoṇita’ i. e. ‘made ruddy’—is ‘suppressed’ by its better known meaning, ‘blood’. (6) In the following we have an example of the word ‘ with an improper signification ’— ‘ Tapasvibhiryā........................... ............raṇāśvamedhe paśutāmupāgatāḥ ’ ‘ The glorious men who have become beasts offered in the sacrifice of battle quickly attain that condition which is attained by ascetics by prolonged austerities, and which is eagerly sought after by performers of sacrifices.’
