( ८६ ) समुच्चयप्रश्नशङ्कासंभावनासु अपि' इत्यमरः। क्रियार्थे—क्रियायै इदं क्रियार्थं (होमादिकर्मकरणार्थम्) for performing holy rites In क्रियार्थ the compound is नित्यसमास, which is defined as 'अविग्रहो नित्यसमासः अस्वपदविग्रहो वा' i. e., Nitya- samasa is that which either cannot be expounded or cannot be expounded by using the words actually compounded. Here क्रियार्थ is expounded by using क्रिया and इदं and not क्रिया and अर्थ which (latter) are actually compounded. The compound with अर्थ is a Nityasamasa and takes the gender and number of the noun it qualifies. समित्कुशम्—समिधश्च कुशाश्च समित्कुशम् Sacrificial sticks and Kusha grass.
