( १४४ ) name of the god of love The word धनुष् at the end of a Bahuvrīhi compound becomes धन्वन् by the addition of अनङ् by 'धनुषश्च' पा० ५ ४ १३२, when the compound is a noun the change is optional, hence its another form is पुष्पधनु । शिली- मुखः-शिली ( शल्यं ) मुखे यस्य स शिलीमुखः ( बाणः ) an arrow. It also means 'a black bee' 'अलिबाणौ शिली- मुखौ' इत्यमर । असह्यहुङ्कारनिवर्तितः । असह्य -(√सह्+यत्) सोढुं योग्यं सह्यं न सह्यं असह्यं which can not be borne हुङ्कारः-the sound hum ( हुं ) expressive of menace or contempt According to some Humkāra is the weapon of Shiva as Rudra. असह्येन हुङ्कारेण निवर्तितः असह्यहुङ्कारनिवर्तितः hurled back with the Humkāra sound. पुरारिं-पुराणां ( दैत्यनगराणां ) अरिं पुरारिम् ( शिवं ) the enemy of the cities, i e Shiva Shiva is known as पुरारि and त्रिपुरारि because he destroyed the three cities made of gold, silver and iron, in the sky, the ethereal region and on earth by the demon Maya and presided over by himself, Vidyun- màlı and Tàrakásura अप्राप्तमुखः-अप्राप्तं मुखं ( बाणाग्रं फलकं ) यस्य सः whose point did not reach ( Shiva ), because it was returned on its way. इमाम्-पार्वतीम् । while Shiva remained invincible, Parvati fell a victim to the arrows of Cupid. व्यायतपातम्-( वि+ आ+√यम्+क्तः=व्यायतः । √पत्+घञ्=पातः) विशेषेण आयतः व्यायतः ( अति तीव्रः; दीर्घः ) पातः ( प्रहारः ) यस्मिन्
