This very idea is supported by the next two lines of the stanza पङ्कजं— (पङ्क + √जन् + डः) पङ्के पङ्कात् वा जायत इति a lotus. षट्पदश्रेणिभिः—षट् पदानि येषां ते षट्पदाः ( भ्रमराः ) तेषां श्रेणिभिः ( पङ्क्तिभि. ) swarms of bees For the synonyms of षट्पद Cf. 'द्विरेफपुष्पलिड् भृङ्ग षट्पद भ्रमरालयः' इत्यमरः। प्रकाशते—shines or looks beautiful Present of √काश् to shine. सशैवलासङ्गम्—शैवलानां ( जलनीलिकानां ; काई— हिन्दी ) आसङ्ग ( साहचर्य ) शैवलासङ्गः, शैवलासङ्गेन सह वर्त्त- मानं सशैवलासङ्गम् by its union with moss आसङ्ग— contact. The compound is बहुब्रीहि according to 'तेन सहेति तुल्ययोगे' पा० २.२.२८। i e., the particle सह may be compounded with a noun in the Instrumental Case in a Bahuvrihi when there is equal participation in some action; in this case सह optionally becomes स। For the idea contained in this stanza see " सरसिज- मनुविद्धं शैवलेनापि रम्यं, मलिनमपि हिमांशोर्लक्ष्म लक्ष्मीं तनोति। इयमधिकमनोज्ञा वल्कलेनापि तन्वी, किमिव हि मधुराणां मण्डनं नाकृतीनाम् ॥ " शकुन्तला १. १८
