( ५६ ) उडुपतेः रश्मयः च तस्याः पारणाविधिः बभूव किल, वृत्तवृत्तिव्य- तिरिक्तसाधनः ( पारणाविधिः ) न ( बभूव ) ॥ २२ ॥ NOTES :- अयाचितोपस्थितम्—न याचितं अयाचितं ( अप्रार्थितं ), अयाचितं च तदुपस्थितं ( प्राप्तं ) अयाचितोपस्थि- तम् which came to her without begging or any other effort on her part उपस्थितं - ( उप + √स्था + क्तः ) उपन- तम् Came to her अम्बु = जलं water. Decline as-अम्बु, अम्बुनी, अम्वूनि । अम्बु, अम्बुनी, अम्बूनि । अम्बुना, अम्बुभ्यां, अम्बुभिः । etc. It means rain-water and dew-water which are obtained without any effort रसात्मकस्य- रसः ( जलं ) आत्मा यस्य सः, तस्य । जलमयस्य consisting of water The moon is supposed to be full of water on account of its cooling rays रस also means ' nectar ' In that case it would mean ' full of nectar ', Cf. the name सुधाकर of the moon रसात्मक-( रस + आत्मन् + कन् ) The कन् suffix is optionally added to some particular words when they form the latter member of a Bahuvrihi compound Cf. ' शेषाद्विभाषा ' पा० ५.४.१५४ उडुपतेः- उडूनां ( नक्षत्राणां ) पतिः, तस्य the lord of constellations, i. e., the moon. Note the Genitive Sing form of उडुपति is उडुपतेः and not उडुपत्युः । The word पति at the end of a compounded word is declined like हरि and not like पति e g. उडुपतिना ( तृतीया ) उडुपतये ( चतुर्थी ) उडुपते ( पञ्चमी, षष्ठी ) उडुपतौ ( सप्तमी ) । पारणाविधिः-पारणा or पारणा means ' eating or drinking after a fast ' or simply ' food ' Mallinatha has taken
