( ७० ) PROSE ORDER :—सा निशि पद्मसुगन्धिना प्रवेपमानाधर- पत्रशोभिना मुखेन तुषारवृष्टिक्षतपद्मसंपदां अपां सरोजसंधानं अकरोद् इव ॥ २७ ॥ NOTES —पद्मसुगन्धिना—शोभनो गन्धो यस्मिंस्तत् सुगन्धि (सुरभि) fragrant. गन्ध becomes गन्धि in a Bahuvrihi compound when preceded by उत्, पूति and सु ‘गन्धस्ये- दुत्पूतिसुसुरभिभ्यः’ पा० ५।४।१३५। पद्मेन इव सुगन्धिना पद्मसुगन्धिना which was as fragrant as the lotus प्रवेप- मानाधरपत्रशोभिना। प्रवेपमानः—(प्र+√वेप्+शानच्) प्रकम्प- मानः trembling अधरपत्रं—अधरः एव पत्र leaf-like nether lip. पत्र means a petal of lotus प्रवेपमानेन अधरपत्रेण शोभते इति प्रवेपमानाधरपत्रशोभि, (√शुभ् दीप्तौ+णिनिः) तेन which shone with the quivering leaf of the nether lip.
