संदर्भ में पढ़ेंTHIS edition of the Brâhmanas of the white Yajurveda is destined only to com- prehend the text. An introductory essay, a glossary, a partial translation and deeper researches into all the materials, treasured up here and in the sûtras of Kâtyâyana, shall follow in a separate work on the Yajur-Vedic ceremonies. Therefore I shall here content myself with enumerating the critical apparatus, exstant in Europe, and giving a short explanation of the accents. — A. I Manuscripts of the text of the Çatapatha Brâhmaṇa: a. in the Mâ- dhyandina-Çâkhâ: — There is exstant a very great number of old as well as recent copies of it: Those, which chiefly (with the exception only of the first book and part of the thirteenth) furnished the text for this edition, exist in the Chambers-Collection and I take this opportunity to congratulate the Royal Library of Berlin upon this splendid donation made to it by the present King of Prussia through the care of the Chevalier Bunsen. Next to these manuscripts in value stands the copy (= M) of the Rev. Dr. Mill, now added to the Bodleian library, the greater part of which, viz. the books I-V and VII-XIII is written Samvat 1705-7 in çrîvṛid- dhanagara by Dâmodara son of Purushottama and accented forty years after by Vidyâdhara. I shall now proceed to notice the single books with their re- spective manuscripts. () — I. Haviryaɟna: begins व्रतमुपैष्यन्नन्तरेणाहवनीयम् (7 prapâthaka, 9 adhyâ- ya, 37 brâhmaṇa, 837 kaṇḍikâ).
