संदर्भ में पढ़ें26 NOTES ON [ I. 23— P 16 भरद्वाजेन (तन्नामकऋषिणा) आवेदित pointed out by the sage भरद्वाज चित्र वर्त्मनि on the road leading to चित्रकूट चित्रकूटं याति इति ०यायिन् कालिन्दी- 'कालिन्दी सूर्यतनया यमुना शमनस्वसा' इत्यमर In अयोध्याकाण्ड सर्ग 54, we see that राम met भरद्वाज near the confluence of the Ganges and the Jumna. 'दश क्रोशा इतस्तात गिरैर्यस्त्विनिवत्स्यति । 28 चित्रकूट इति ख्यातो गन्धमा दनप्रतिम ॥' 29 In सर्ग 55 we read 'तत प्रचक्रमे वक्तु वचन स महामुनि । भरद्वाजो महातेजा राम सत्यपराक्रमम् ॥ 3 गङ्गायमुनयो सन्धिमादाय मनुसंर्पभ । कालिन्दीमनुगच्छता नदी पश्चान्मुखाश्रितान् ॥ 4 समासाद्य तु कालिन्दीं प्रतिस्रोत समागताम् । तत्र यूथ प्लव कृत्वा तरतांशुभामी नदीम् ॥ 5 ततो न्यग्रोधमासाद्य महान्त हरितच्छदम् । 6 समासाद्य च त श्या बसेदातिक्रमेत वा । क्रोशमात्र ततो गत्वा नीलं प्रेक्ष्य च काननम् । स पथाश्चित्र कूटस्य गतस्य बहुशो मया ॥' 9 Thus we see that चित्रकूट was a hill about 10 क्रोशs from the confluence of the Ganges and the Jumna to the west सस्पृहम् (स्पृहया सह यथा स्यात् तथा ) with longing कथ विसर्व्यते how can (this place) be forgotten ?
