The date of the compo- sition of the book would therefore be in the year 1298 of the Christian era."1 लाला सीताराम बी० ए० ने सन् १९०० की खोज रिपोर्ट वाली प्रति पर निर्भर होकर ग्रन्थ की रचना-तिथि पर अपना विचार यों प्रकट किया कि "Nalha is not mentioned in the modern vernacular literature of Hindustan According to Misrabandhu Vinod Nalha was a Raja & composed his Visaldeo Rasau in 1354 V E corr sponding to A. D. The date of composition is given in the following lines "बारह सौ बहत्तीरा मझारि, जेठ वदी नवमी बुधवारि । नाल्ह रसायन आरंभइ, सारदा तूठी ब्रह्म कुमारि ॥ The date is clearly 1272 and 1220 as the Misra Brothers say, and their calculation showing thus that is inaccurate, therefore based on wrong date. 1272 V. E will correspond to 1216 A. D and we have reasons to believe that was a contem- porary of Bisaldeo * आचार्य रामचन्द्र शुक्ल का कहना है कि ग्रन्थ में निर्माण काल यों दिया है- बारह सै बहोत्तरी मझारि । जेठ बदी नवमी बुधवारि ॥ नाल्ह रसायन आरंभइ । सारदा तूंठि ब्रह्म कुमारि ॥ बारह सौ बहोत्तरा का स्पष्ट अर्थ १२१२ है। बहोत्तरा शब्द 'बारहोत्तर द्वादशोत्तर का रूपान्तर है। अतः 'बारह सौ बहोत्तरा' का अर्थ द्वादशोत्तर बारह सौ अर्थात् १२१२ होगा। गणना करने पर विक्रम स० १२१२ में ज्येष्ठ बदी नवमी को बुधवार ही पड़ता है।३ डा० रामकुमार वर्मा ने रचना विधि सम्बन्धी 'बारह सौ बहोत्तरा मझारि । जेठ वदी नवमी बुधवारि ॥' तथा 'संवत् सहस विहुत्तराइ आणि नाल्ह कविसर सरसीय वाणि' दोनों पद्यों पर विचार करते हुए कहा है कि १००३ इतिहास के † Annual Report on the Search for Hindi Mss for the year 1900, P.
