Adh. LVIII. Sl. 8-11.] अष्टपञ्चाशोऽध्यायः 505 Sloka 7.—The tip of the ear is 4½ digits off the corner of the eye on a level with the brows. The ear- hole and the raised margin near it lie at the same level as the centre of the eye and measure one digit. चतुरङ्गुलं वसिष्ठः कथयति नेत्रान्तकर्णयोर्विवरम् । अधरोऽङ्गुलप्रमाणस्तस्यार्धेनोत्तरोष्ठश्च ॥८॥ Sloka 8.—Sage Vasishta observes that the distance between the eye-corner and the ear is four digits. The lower and the upper lip measure respectively one digit and half a digit in breadth. अर्धाङ्गुला तु गोच्छा वक्त्रं चतुरङ्गुलायतं कार्यम् । विपुलं तु सार्धमङ्गुलमव्यात्तं त्र्यङ्गुलं व्यात्तम् ॥९॥ Sloka 9.—The dimple above the lip is half a digit. The mouth must be made four digits in length and 1½ digits in thickness. An opened mouth is of three digits in the middle. द्व्यङ्गुलतुल्यौ नासापुटौ च नासा पुटाग्रतो ज्ञेया । स्याद्द्व्यङ्गुलमुच्छ्रायश्चतुरङ्गुलमन्तरं चाक्ष्णोः ॥१०॥ Sloka 10.—The sides of the nose measure two digits; the tip of the nose is two digits in height and breadth. The space between the eyes is four digits. द्व्यङ्गुलमितोऽक्षिकोषो द्वे नेत्रे तत्रिभागिका तारा । दृक्तारा पञ्चांशो नेत्रविकासोऽङ्गुलं भवति ॥११॥ Sloka 11.—The socket of the eye and the eye itself measure two digits. The pupil measures one-third of the above, i. e. ⅔ digit; and the innermost circle of the pupil is ⅖ digit. The width of the eye is one digit. बृ. सं. 64
