developed culture were disseminated in Asia and Europe by the speakers of the common Aryan of Indo-European language most probably the beginning of the second millenium. B.C. The speakers of the common Aryan language either in the plains of Hungary in the valley of the Danube as Giles maintains in the Cambridge History of India or in Southern Russia near about the Caspian Sea as Carnoy and other scholars have maintained. In any way there is no doubt that they lived in a geographical area in which such trees as birch (bhurja), willow etc. were abundant and these trees are found, as has been pointed out by various scholars, only in the region from East Prussia to the Pamirs, The Aryanam Vaejo (the home land of the Aryas), of the Iranian tradition also may be modern Ajarbaizan, one of the states in the Caucasus.
Names of gods like Mitra, Nasatya, Indra, Varuna etc. have been discovered in the inscriptions of the Mittanians, and other traces of the presence of the Aryans between 1800-1400 B. C. have been discovered in Asia Minor. These land-marks show that various branches of the Aryans were on the move in this period, in search of new lands and it was probably in this period that the Indo-Iranians also migrated towards the east and settled down on the confines of India and Iran. A schism soon took place amongst the Indo-Iranians and the that branch whom we call the Indo-Aryan migrated further to the East towards India.
From a comparative study of the literature and religion of the Iranians and the Indo-Aryans (viz. the Gathas of the Avesta and the Athrvaveda) it is abundantly clear that they inherited common religious and literary traditions. The religion was entirely ritualistic and there is no doubt that this religion had its origin in a still earlier period amongst the speakers of the common Aryan language because elements of this ritualism are found also amongst other branches of the Aryan speaking people. Literary tradition also seems to be very old, if we are to judge from the common parentage of the metres used in the Homeric epics, those used in the Avestan Gathas and those used in the Vedas.
EVIDENCE OF THE PRESENCE OF THE ARYANS IN ASIA MINOR.
१. The Kassites who established a dynasty at Babylon in 1760 B. C. In the names of their princes we get the following elements-Surias (Surya), (Indas (Indra), Maruttas (Marutah) and-bugas (Iranian baga-god). They introduced also the use of horse for the first time.
