( २११ ) बद्धः tied. अ of अपि is optionally dropped by ‘वष्टि भागुरिरल्लोपमवाप्योरुपसर्गयोः ’, so also अपिनद्धः। भोगिन्— (भोग+इनिः) भोगः (फणः) अस्यास्तीति भोगिन् posses- sing hood i.e., a serpent ‘उरगः पन्नगो भोगी जिह्मगः पवनाशनः’ इत्यमरः। पिनद्धाः भोगिनः यस्मिन् तत् पिनद्धभोगि engirdled or wrapped by serpents. गजाजिनालम्बि— गजस्य अजिनं (चर्म) आलम्बते इति गजाजिनालम्बि (आ+ √लम्ब्+णिनिः) covered with elephant's hide. अजिनं —skin ‘अजिनं कृत्तिः चर्म’ इत्यमरः। दुकूलधारि—दुकूलं (क्षौमं) धारयति इति दुकूलधारि (√धृ+णिनिः) putting on silken garments कपालि—(कपाल+इनि) कपालं (शिरोऽस्थि) यस्मिन् अस्तीति कपालि having a skull (in the crest) According to the mythological books Shiva holds in his crest a skull of Brahman's head Cf. ‘जगत्सिसृक्षासमयेषु वेधसां प्रणामलोलानि शिरांसि पादयोः। जगद्विरामेषु कपालशेषतां गतानि तिष्ठन्ति जटासु धूर्जटेः। According to another legend ‘Shiva once got very angry with Brahman on hearing the latter's proud declaration that he (Shiva) had sprung from his fore- head, etc, and created in anger the fierce Kálabhair- ava, who severed one of the heads of Brahman with his nails. Shiva, therefore, wore, as Kálabhairava, the skull of Brahman's head इन्दुशेखरं—इन्दुः शेखरे (शेखरे वा) यस्य तत् having moon on its crest. विभूषणे द्वासि etc. are Adjectives of वपुः and so in neuter gender nom. singular.
