है कि, विषयोंकी कामना आफतकी जड़ है, विषयोंमें सुख नहीं, घोर विपद है; विषय विषसे भी अधिक दुःखदायी है,— विषयोंकी इच्छा करता है। इससे कहना पड़ता है कि, मोहकी माया बड़ी कठिन है। महात्मा कबीरदास कहते हैं :—

शंकर हूँ ते सबल है, माया या संसार ।

अपने बल छूटे नहीं, छुड़ावे सिरजनहार ॥

21 The moth may burn itself by falling over the flame of a lamp, because it is ignorant of the result of its action, The fish may swallow the bait hung by a fisherman, because it is similarly ignorant, How wonderful should the force of attachment be, that we, being thoroughly conversant with the result of action, do not care to renounce the network which brings distress and misery in the end !

फलमलमशनाय स्वादुपानाय तोयं

शयनमवनिष्ठे वलकले वाससी च ।

नवधनमधुपानश्रान्तसर्वेन्द्रियाणा-

मविनयमखुमन्तु नोत्सहे दुर्जनानाम् ॥२२॥

खानेके लिये फलोंकी इफ़्फ़रात है, पीनेके लिये मीठा जल है, पहननेके लिये वस्त्रोंकी खाल है; फिर हम धनमदसे मतवाले दुष्टोंकी बातें क्यों सहे ? ॥२२॥
