वैराग्य शतक

मतलब यह है कि, मनुष्य अज्ञानतासे भटकता है, अलौक सुख पानेके लिये वृथा नीचांकी षुशामद करता है। जिस सुखके लिये वह इतनी आफूत उठाता है, उस सुखका सच्चा सोता स्वयं उसके दिलमें मौजूद है। किसी पाश्चात्य विद्वान्ने ए. व. कहा है—“The source of true happiness is inherent in the heart ; he is a fool who seeks it elsewhere” सच्चे सुखका सोता दिलके अन्दर मौजूद है। जो उसे अन्यत्र खोजता-फिरता है, वह मूर्ख है। निश्चय ही सुख मनमें है और मनके निरोधसे वह मिलता है। जिसका चित्त स्थिर है, उसे सदा सुख है ; जिसका चित्त स्थिर नहीं, उसे सुख नहीं ; अतः मनुष्यो ! भटकना छोड़कर सन्तोषकी शरण गहो ; निश्चय ही आपको अपने भीतर ही परम सुख-शान्ति मिलेगी।

दोहा ।

तूही रीक्षत क्यों नहीं, कहा रिक्षवत और ? ।

तेरेही आनन्दसे, चिन्तामणि सब ठौर ॥३४॥

34. O my unhappy mind, why dost thou try to enter into the hearts of others by doing thy utmost to please them while thou art thyself heavy with the burden of afflictions. If thou becomest contented by giving up thy desires, wilt not thou gain all thou wantest, when all the good qualities of a pure mind are produced within thyself like a Chintamani which has the power of giving everything that a man desires ?
