O friend, this daughter of a slave-girl (harlot) Sáriká is reciting the hymns of the Rigveda like a Brāhmana well versed in the four Vedas. King. Friend, tell me (what she said); as, with attention diverted, I could not catch what she said. Vasantaka. O, she speaks thus :-- My love is directed towards a person who is difficult to be attained ; great is my bashfulness (nervousness) ; and my self is dependent on another.
